Fruits are not a free food. Just because you are eating a ton of fruit doesn’t mean that you are eating healthy. It may be the opposite depending on the type and quantity of fruit you are currently dogging.

The glycemic index of fruit determines how rapidly you body will develop the carbs (yes fruit is a carb) into glucose.

Why should you care? Whether or not a carb is fast digesting or slow digesting contributes to spikes in your blood sugar or insulin levels. Why should you care about that? There are many reasons.

Spikes in your blood sugar can:
1. cause mood swings and instability
2. contribute to increased cravings
3. end up getting stored away. Who needs more stuff stored? Aren’t we all trying to get rid of the crap we have stored already?
